Nosotros fabricated these filets for dinner today and stock-still Garlic Broiled Potatoes as a side (also institute on allrecipes.com). We grilled them instead of broiling them and they turned out great. One thing we didn't like was the shallots. We thought they were a bit likewise strong and overpowering. Next time I will just sauté mushrooms and onions to serve with the filets. My husband too idea using butter instead of olive oil would be very good. Thank you for a great recipe.
03/27/2008
It'southward a very simple and like shooting fish in a barrel recipe. Whoever rated this equally a 1 star cannot follow simple instructions. My steak came out the way my hubby & I wanted it to be.
02/07/2008
So, so elementary and even my picky eater loved information technology! And for anyone else trying this recipe... I didn't use filet mignon, just a similar cut of meat and was out of onion powder and used garlic pulverization (my family likes garlic better anyway). My local grocery store didn't accept shallots. I used green onions. Sprinkled some of the onions on the meat, sauteed the rest of the stalks with mushrooms and added on tiptop after taking out of the oven. This was so piece of cake to practice. Meat was tender, flavorful. I'll use this recipe again!
07/18/2011
Very "piece of cake" and I guess you lot could say in that location's nothing more "romantic" than a prissy filet mignon when it comes to a cozy dinner for ii. I did however do these a scrap differently - I rubbed these with a chip of olive oil simply left off the onion powder and chose to use a little minced garlic and kosher common salt. I allow these come to room temperature and grilled them. It doesn't become any easier or any ameliorate than this!
09/21/2007
I made these from a tenderloin that I had cut upwards. Other than omitting the shallots, I didn't change anything else. This recipe works actually well with a adept smoked salary (applewood is my fav). Expert job on this recipe!
02/12/2010
Way to go "Chef in the making". I think information technology is wonderful that you are learning to cook. Very skillful flavor! Pairs nicely with carmelized onion mashed potatoes.
x/21/2007
It was very good. I'm not a great cook, so I can capeesh elementary yet tasty recipes. Thanks a lot chef in the making! My family unit loved your recipe
02/12/2010
It's a cracking recipie!! The steaks came out tender and very flavorful. Cheers! I didn't use the onion pulverization because I didn't have it, but it was so good! As for the reviewers who recollect they might use butter for this? The reason yous shouldn't is that oil has a much higher resistence to burning in high heat (close to the broiler) than olive oil does. If you really want butter on your meat then cook some subsequently and pour it on. If y'all melt with it, the meat will tend to burn on the outside.
04/30/2008
Easy, quick, bones and delicious. I fabricated it for my boyfriend who really likes simple type cooking and he loved this. So did I. I might effort it with melted butter instead of olive oil next time. Thank you!
07/07/2007
Did not intendance for the flavour, non appealing to look at.

I promise my son can melt similar you when he is 14!
03/20/2008
Nifty way to cook steaks when the grill is nether snow! Our steaks were very, very thick, so they needed about 8 minutes per side (for medium rare). Salary even got a little crispy. Cheers.
04/01/2012
Please be careful with this method. My oven caught fire tonight. I didn't recall I used as well much olive oil. I think my highest rack placement may be as well close to the heating elements. I'm not sure. It only took five minutes for it to catch fire. You've been warned.
02/12/2010
Bravo! Splendid recipe. Does my heart skillful to see a 14 yr. quondam interested in cooking! No thing what you lot practice in life, you've got to eat!
12/31/2011
This was wonderful! I omitted the shallots since I didn't accept any and I used maple salary from Costco and information technology gave the steaks the best flavor! I also saw in another recipe browning the steaks with a piddling bit of butter earlier broiling them. I did this and the steaks browned very nicely. My guest were all very happy and I received lots of compliments. Awesome recipe!!! I volition be making this over again!
03/23/2012
Style to become! Had to cook a piddling longer than stated. Best I have made away from my charcoal grill. Cheers!
06/03/2011
It was great...I did change information technology a fleck....I permit the steaks sit in red wine vinegar, on a plate. Then added the olive oil, onion pulverisation, I added garlic powder, and Club Business firm Montreal steak spice, and common salt and pepper...i didn't have Shallots, and then I sautade onions and mushrooms...I likewise pre-cooked the bacon for 3 min on either side....I also made a Garlic Butter for a cook on top once the steak was finished...2 cloves of garlic and 2 teaspoons of soften butter, rolled it into a roll in saran wrap. the cutting pieces off nearly 1/2 inch thick, and permit melt over the steak....I also permit the steak tent for x minutes earlier serving (can foil over a plate)...I would defiantly make information technology again
x/25/2011
Astonishing AND So EASY! This came out corking! I merely fabricated it for dinner tonight and it was the first time I have ever fabricated filet mignon. The just affair I did different was minus the shallot and when it was finished I seared both sides of it on the stove. Just to give information technology a little colour. Information technology came out actually cracking!
02/12/2010
I have used this recipe merely in a modified version. Instead of broiling information technology I pan fried information technology in a hot bandage iron skillet. I besides made a wine sauce as a dipping sauce or pour information technology over the filets. Sauce 1 cup of Burgandy Wine (utilise a adept quality wine) cook information technology downward to a 1/four loving cup plough off burner and whisk in 2 TBS of ice cold butter. Add a pinch of sea table salt and serve with Filet.
08/21/2010
This was pretty practiced. I did non have toothpicks and so the bacon came off. In one case the bacon is done, the steak is done. DO Non over melt filet mignon.
09/05/2012
my beau & i made this for a quick dinner. it was so simple and delicious. it just made my house very smokey, so i think next time i volition lower the oven rack.
05/02/2012
I must disagree with "Chef in the making". He is already at that place. Thank y'all Chef.
02/12/2010
Since my husband & I similar our filets rare & seared...I found the salary raw within......and then next time I fried the salary to half cooked then wrapped it round the steak & barBQued..First-class !
02/12/2013
first off,,,,,, v to vii minutes to each side in a 500* broiler is way also long.... Rare to Med rare, 4 min per side max, if they are a practiced 1 one/four to 1 1/2" thick. Never ever more than eight min total even on hot grill........ If a bbq grill is not available...then broiler volition suffice, but please, an expensive cut of meat should never ever be cooked/broiled/bbq'd more than enough time to exist RARE to Med Rare.....anything more than that, you may as well have roast beefiness..........needs garlic.......and i adopt granulated to powder...does not clump up. with a little whatsisheresauce added to olive oil pressed into slimly sliced or tenderizer pointed machine........... otherwise,,,very good.......
04/14/2007
Keep upwards the skilful work!
10/16/2011
This is my start recipe that I've tried with allrecipes and information technology was AMAZING!!! Followed the recipe to a T and it turned out and so nifty that I'm making it a second fourth dimension in two weeks! It's a meal my whole family (husband and three kids) devoured! Thank you for a bang-up recipe, Chef in the Making! Go along them coming! I desire more to try!!!
10/02/2009
I tried this recipe tonight, Filet Mignon was on sale, so I couldn't pass upwardly the deal - accept never fabricated information technology though! I followed the recipe with the exception of the shallots (kids and hubby not big fans) - came out perfect! My hubby and kids (7,6 and ii years onetime) loved it! They said that mommy cooks better than any eating place!! Very easy and quick. Only matter is that it is a bit messy in the oven, the meat and bacon popped grease everywhere. Thank goodness for self-cleaning ovens!!
02/14/2012
this was a great filet as promised. i followed the directions to a T and had smashing results. I made this for my Husband and Daughter for Valentine'south Day and they loved it. I love filet mignon, so I was hoping I wouldn't be disappointed. I volition definitely make this again!
08/17/2009
This came out great! Like some other reviewer, I think side by side time I'm going to lower the rack, cause the bacon was turning a lil too brown! Other than that, it came out very juicy and merely enough pink!!! thank you=)
12/28/2009
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! I used top sirloin steaks because it's what we had, only it nonetheless was the best steak I've ever made! I too used garlic powder instead of onion. I have a digital meat thermometer and cooked it until it was 145 degrees in the center for medium rare (our favorite). This is a peachy way to tell if the meat'southward washed without cut into it. Even my picky iii year old kept saying, "Give thanks yous for making this!"
03/eighteen/2010
Splendid and perfectly cooked
07/11/2011
Unbelievably skillful! Used garlic-infused grape seed oil, body of water salt, pepper, garlic pulverisation, then wrapped with bacon. We may see this fellow on FN.
05/14/2007
Very good. Came out perfectly washed. I was a bit skeptical at outset with the broil times, only I was wrong. Tasty.
03/10/2010
I made information technology for Valentines day dinner with my husband! Very tasty. Thanks!
09/25/2010
Great recipe! I tweaked a little by adding some garlic pulverization to the steak and I used minced onion instead of minced shallot(because I didn't accept information technology on hand). Thank you for the recipe! I will definitely make information technology again!
02/15/2009
I was actually happy with this! Definitely permit it residuum for 1 hr prior to cooking. And so piece of cake! I did a separate mushroom shallot sauce w/ white wine instead of putting the shallots on top. 1 note: 5 mins on each side is quite rare, make certain to do more than five mins if y'all similar yours better done!
03/16/2010
Simple merely very tasty. In the future I would let the filets marinate in the olive oil and spices for a few hours or overnight.
06/02/2010
didn't much care for information technology. the bacon was style to over powering.
02/15/2010
Fixed this for he wife on Valentines Day. She thought it was fantastic. Served information technology with grilled onions over mashed potatoes and a salad. THANKS And so MUCH, to the immature human for sharing it with us.
02/06/2010
Skillful recipe-- mine didn't come out so great, just it was because our oven was broken and I had to endeavor using the toaster oven. Oy!
01/07/2012
I bought filet mignon that was $27.99 a lb for Christmas dinner. We just have an indoor electrical grill. I wasn't impressed and mayhap it was because of the grill. I couldn't taste any of the spices I put on the meat. May try once again only not with such expensive meat!
02/14/2010
yummy stuff i fabricated mashed potatoes and steamed snow peas and it was quite the yummy meal
03/11/2010
What an incredible recipe. I can't to try more from this fellow. Thanks for a succulent dinner!!!
05/04/2010
Simple and expert. I used pork instead of fillet, considering that's what I had on hand.
02/14/2008
This recipe turned out fantastic and was then easy to brand. I made information technology for my hubby and teenage girl and they both loved it. I put a fiddling bit of minced garlic with it (1/8th tsp) and used sea salt from a grinder. The meat comes out a perfect medium at 6 minutes per side. I took a tablespoon of blue cheese per steak and put it on height to melt for the last 1 1/2 minutes. I will definitely be making this again!
05/thirty/2007
It'due south difficult for me to charge per unit, since I don't eat steak, but, made it for my 'steak loving' hubby. I was worried about information technology being under the broiler too long, just he thought information technology was very tasty! So, Like shooting fish in a barrel!! Will be making again when he wants a steak and no one else does.
03/04/2010
YUM-O!!! Absolutely delicious and then very easy!!! This recipe is definitely a keeper. I used Durkee Grill Creations steak seasoning after coating filets in olive oil. Wrapped bacon around meat, secured with kabob stick and broiled on Low. Then tasty. Husband LOVED it. Will be making over again and again!
02/15/2010
This was amazing, sometimes simplicity is ameliorate.
02/nineteen/2016
Followed as written, with one minor modify. Used a cast iron skillet instead of a broiler pan. Heated the pan first to full temp. Turned out perfect. I'd suggest 5 minutes per side, as a starting signal.
08/17/2010
Cheers for the great recipe. This was so unproblematic and tasted swell. My husband loved the steak wraped in the bacon. I did omit the shallots. This one is certain to please.
08/11/2007
Fabulous!!! I didn't change a unmarried affair and these filets were so tasty. Very piece of cake.
02/13/2013
Perfect! Followed exactly and cooked to 130 using thermometer. Took out and let sit on counter while making a quick mixed lettuce salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Only difference was I used garlic powder instead of onion.
07/29/2014
This comes out bully and is very like shooting fish in a barrel to brand. I just hate that it creates a lot of smoke and the broiling pan is a real chore to clean.
02/14/2017
I will never make this again. If I want to taste bacon I'll fry bacon. No mode do I desire a cracking piece of meat that is expensive to taste similar bacon. If I could rate naught I would.
02/19/2012
pretty skilful
02/14/2010
All three of united states of america actually enjoyed this as it was made in the recipe, simply bake nether depression. Very Skilful.
03/fifteen/2007
It was soooo like shooting fish in a barrel to make and absolutly wounderful!!
12/07/2007
Excellent recipe, followed to a T. However, if you are someone who likes onions then definitely double the amount of onions used. Information technology is great!!
04/thirty/2011

03/16/2016
My hubby is past far a better cook than me, especially when it comes to meat. But I used this recipe and they came out so good! I felt proud of my dinner tonight.
02/14/2013
looking adept so far only caution....using the top rack in oven on broiler might start a grease fire as the steaks first to splatter...had to lower temp and rack...pretty new rangeless GE model stove/oven so quite certain its not the oven only rather the heat level and the grease. I've just tasted it and WOW! so tender and flavorful!
02/xviii/2010
I'm not that nifty at cooking steak, but this turned out excellent! Thanks so much and go along upwards the skillful piece of work!
01/17/2010

11/xx/2007
This was delicious. I followed the recipe to a T except that the supermaket was fresh out of shallots so I used green onion and information technology was fabulous. It didnt look as wonderful equally information technology could of Merely because I didnt accept toothpicks to secure the bacon but I made the most of information technology by garnishing it with fresh parsley to give information technology color and served with a side of garlic baked asparagus on a bed of rice pilaf and it looked perfect "Like a restaurant" is what my husband said :)
12/05/2009

A elementary, quick, romantic dinner was served! The bacon really enhanced the steak! Cheers All recipes for all the bang-up tips and ideas! I am going for the caramelized onions and mushrooms over the top of this tonight! We will see how information technology turns out!
05/31/2009
All-time filet I've ever made. I usually murder them! I had the rack on the top rung and the fume alarm went. Lowered it and they turned out great. Thank you so much for the recipe. I can finally have someone over for a really nice dinner.

07/05/2016
I Like. I am not making changes.
x/31/2008
If I could requite this recipe more than stars I would. This was the best steak ever. I made this for my husband and 3 kids and concluded simply getting 1 bite of my steak bc the kids were fighting for more than. On summit of that my husband ate 3 past himself. So, needless to say next time I will have to make near x for a family of v rather than 7. I did add some carmine pepper to my husbands and he said that the estrus was perfect and to all the steaks I added garlic pulverisation. I did beat out a couple of garlic cloves and infused it over low heat to the evoo then it would have an extra layer of flavor. I will def make over again.
09/28/2013
I turned my back for a infinitesimal or two to ready the residual of dinner on the stovetop, smelled something funny and when I turned around, in that location was a fire in my oven! There were huge flames leaping up from the broiling pan! Thankfully I got the pan out and into the sink without being burned, but the house was completely filled with smoke, set off all the smoke alarms and only improved hours after. Mayhap put a alert on the recipe that yous demand to go on a shut eye on them just in case. Not exactly the romantic repast I was hoping for!
06/xiii/2012
Very proficient!!! I'k thinking of side by side fourth dimension tweaking it with some pepper jack!
02/14/2010
This was simply delicious! However I wish I had timing for medium-well, as that's how my wife prefers it. All the aforementioned, information technology turned out medium-rare and delicious. I substituted the onion pulverization with finely crushed garlic, and the shallots with onion slices and a knob of butter. The natural flavor of the filet mignon is subtly complemented by the other flavors. It's simply delicious. Well done!
02/25/2008
This was so like shooting fish in a barrel and delicous! I used garlic and herb olive oil and my boyfriend loved information technology. He ate two!
08/08/2008
Great recipe! My boyfriend said it was ameliorate then any resturaunt! I will definitely be making this again!
02/04/2010
This was very good my husband said he would similar me to brand this often. And my 3yr sometime son cleared his plate. The cardinal to this recipe is cooking fourth dimension. And so your steak gets to your desired temperature (rare, medium or well).
08/02/2009
These were moist and succulent. My smoke alarm went off though! Next time I volition lower the rack. Thanks for the recipe and keep upwardly the skilful piece of work!
02/13/2009
I just desire to salute this swain for his expertise at such a tender historic period. You will have your ain eatery or cooking show some twenty-four hour period, my friend. Remember this......brand a living doing something you would do for cypher, and yous will e'er exist happy.
04/16/2016
This turned out good - not a 5 star, but nosotros liked it. The bacon and topping of shallots added a lot of season to information technology. I broiled it on a lower rack to make certain I did not set up my apartment on fire or smoke usa out, and that worked very well.
02/fifteen/2008
SOOOO GOOOD!!!! I made this last dark for Valentine'south dinner...it was sooo expert. I topped information technology with mushrooms and swiss cheese. Very yummy! Way to go chef in the making!
10/18/2008
This was so very simple and the flavor was very adept. Our filets were thick, so I cooked them 8 minutes per side for medium rare.
01/12/2015
This was tasty - the bacon helps to proceed moist a cutting of meat that is prone to drying out. I buy t-bone steaks and dissever the strip and the filets from the os, then cook them separately as they take very different cooking needs. I'd make this once again.
01/26/2008
lovely and simple!
07/07/2019
Good for you, my male child -- this was succulent!
11/xvi/2014
Great! I thought the scallions went great with it. The bacon did make a smoky mess however.
07/28/2008
I thought this recipe was great! I made these for my mom & husband last night & we all loved it. I did skip the shallots because my husband hates onions of whatever kind (although I tin sneak onion pulverization by him). I would brand these again!
05/15/2016
Followed recipe to the letter of the alphabet and the filets were scrumptious! Piece of cake recipe with glorious results! Thanks
05/12/2010
Corking flavour! And super easy! I didnt have onion powder, then I used garlic powder and fresh crushed garlic. My 10 y.o. ate the whole thing. Becareful with the broil ,got the house smokey. Will melt this again.
12/27/2014
Perfect Christmas dinner for the 3 of the states. Didn't use salary since I don't like it. Otherwise, followed recipe closely. Five minutes each side, filets were cooked medium/ medium well (no blood). Very piece of cake and succulent!
06/03/2012
Didn't care for information technology. Needed more flavor.
05/07/2009
Five stars 'chef in the making'! Very good! I grilled mine, and sauted the onions with mushrooms. Will make once more:)
02/23/2013
Thank you chef in the making for this swell recipe'. Information technology was delish & I will get in again. Go on cooking, At your historic period you will be a chef earlier you know information technology !!!!
02/xiii/2013
Super easy and delicious. Used onion instead of shallot based on some reviews. Did not need whatsoever sauce, was very flavorful on it's own. I did add a fleck of garlic salt likewise.
08/31/2010
Incredibly easy for a new cook! I tried for the first time ever cooking this and Information technology turned out wonder! I couldn't believe how chop-chop it was done! I volition say that I like mine well done then I needed to leave mine in longer simply it's all in how you like your meat cooked! Perfect for medium well people similar my husband.
